It's a great day to be a Bull. Just 71 days after we put this website up, the powers to be have finally done the right thing and sent Skip packing. He should have been fired weeks ago, but better late than never.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
He hasn't been there long, but it is already time for USF Head Football Coach
Skip Holtz to pack his bags and get out of town. In just his third season, Holtz has already set
USF back years.
In their first 5 years of
Big East play, the
Bulls were 17-18 in Conference games, which is nothing to write home about.
Holtz has gone 5-16 in conference play, since his arrival. The
Big East is the weakest of the BCS Conferences and if the Bulls can't succeed in the
Big East, they will never amount to anything. If you don't win your Conference Games, it doesn’t matter what you do outside your Conference.
Coach Holtz has a career record of
88-71, which isn't terrible, but since arriving at USF, Skip is 16-21. Furthermore, he is 0-3 in Homecoming Games and in 2011 coached a USF team that was "Bowl Ineligible" for the first time since joining the Big East. In 2012, he did the same thing. The Bulls have also lost 16 of their last 20 games. Of the
16 games where Skip has coached them to victory, the schools they have beat are Stony Brook, Western Kentucky, Florida Atlantic, Ball State, Florida A&M, UTEP, Chattanooga, Nevada, Cincinnati, Rutgers, Louisville, Syracuse, Miami, Clemson, Notre Dame and Connecticut.
USF has too good of a recruiting base and enrollment size to be less than a .500 team.
The word that best describes Skip's tenure at USF is mediocrity. So what will the future bring? In July of 2012, Holtz signed a contract extension through the 2017 season that will pay him $2 million annually. What exactly did Holtz do to merit a new contract?
This is not and should not be acceptable. If you agree, you should contact Doug Woolard, the Director of Athletics at USF. His contact info can be found at
